E Jeeepneys Conking Out?

Makati is on the right track to help mitigate climate change while addressing problems such as air pollution, solid waste, and rising oil prices. This project demonstrates that cities can take the lead in helping address global climate change by promoting sustainable transport tied in with renewable energy-based technologies. Makati natives should be proud and supportive of these projects. Our future depends on it but barely a month after the launch of the e-jeepney in Makati, my brother who is a regular e-jeepney commuter, had a conversation with one of the drivers. It turns out that the 10 jeepneys that were deployed to service Salcedo and Legaspi Village has been reduced to just 8 units because 2 have broken down already. Sad, sad news. Something should be done to sustain such a great plan.

  1. Hello. I'm with the team that produced the Ejeepney. Not to worry. The 2 Ejeepneys were only sidelined for awhile. We just had to put more battery fluid. Because it runs for 8 hours the water in the battery tends to evaporate faster. We are still ironing out kinks with the Ejeepney but most problems are pretty minor.
Please continue to patronize the Ejeepneys. They are good for the environment, the commuters and for the Filipno workers who manufacture them. Cheers.

  3. Good morning, Anonymous Food Tripper! I enjoy taking the E-jeep. I like the fact that the art was done by a national artist. I just wish there was a way to tell which ejeep circulates Salcedo or Legaspi because the signages are very difficult to read from 4 cars away. AND the challenge is compounded with having to stop every single ejeep just ask "Salcedo?" (add to the annoyance that most Legaspi Village drivers assume that people like me are asking if the ejeep is going to Salcedo Street rather than Salcedo Village)

  4. we shall take your comments into consideration. Thanks for using the Makati Green Route! Its really great that it now has a following. It is however still a work in progress. We will definitely revise the signages and the maps.
    Thanks again!
